Frequently
Asked Questions
What
causes excess hair growth?
Congenital Factor
- Genetic background determines both factor and amount of hair throughout your
life time. Some people tend to have excess hair growth.
- Abnormalities or dysfunction of Endocrine glands may cause Hirsutism or excessive
hair growth.
- Certain medications such as Cortisone or other hormones can also cause this
problem.
What can be done about my unwanted hair?
There are two types of hair removal:
Temporary:
- Shaving is the most common method.
- Depilatory or cremes. These forms contain alkaline which can break down hair structure.
- Tweezing and waxing: These are the same procedures since they both pull the hair
out and can cause ingrown hair and/or distorted hair root.
Permanent:
Electrolysis is the only permanent way to remove hair,
which has been approved by the medical profession. Electrolysis is accomplished
by inserting a very thin wire (Filament) into an open pore (Follicle).
By using a small amount of heat, then papilla (root), most of the
follicle is destroyed and the hair can be permanently removed.

How long does it take and how often do I come in?
This will depend on your type of hair growth, what kind of temporary method
your may have used and for how long. The hair showing on an area is only
a small percentage of the total growth. There are approximately 1,000
hair roots per square inch of skin. A large area can be cleared in a short
treatment. Beneath the cleared skin area are roots of old hair which have
shed, been rubbed off or newel tweezed. Some of these roots are resting
and some are growing. It is difficult to determine which are growing,
but slowly and gradually they will reach the surface. Therefore, further
treatment becomes necessary over a period of time until every active hair
root has pushed its hair to the surface so it can be permanently removed.
Does electrolysis hurt?
what you feel is a sensation of warmth. It will depend on the thickness of
the hair. Some people fall asleep which having it done. Everyone a a different
tolerance to pain.
How expensive is electrolysis?
Electrolysis would cost more than temporary methods, but there are several benefits
to professional permanent hair removal. You will save many hours and expense
spent over a life time of using temporary methods.
